Went for happy hour, quiet and you can actually hear if you having conversation with someone, music not too loud and the place is very clean. Drinks are good, biscuits are meh, the jalapeno dip needs more spice, was hoping for calamari but not on the menu anymore. Service was very friendly, quick, attentive. Will come back and try other food items next time.

We were able to snag a last minute reservation on Father's Day. This place has easy street parking. Although we arrived 30 minutes prior to our reservation the hostess was kind to sit us early. We had a great table with the cushion couches. The food was flavorful and the staff was great. We tried to order dinner items but they only serve brunch on Sundays. We will return to try the dinner options. This is a great hidden gem.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Public Bistro in Midtown for the first time, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The restaurant has a cozy bistro feel, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. One of the standout moments of my visit was when the bartender made a special cocktail just for me. It didn't have a name, but it was absolutely amazing. I was impressed by the bartender's creativity and willingness to cater to individual preferences. It truly added a personal touch to the dining experience. We started our meal by ordering a variety of appetizers, and they did not disappoint. The crabcakes were absolutely delicious, with a perfect balance of flavors. The barbecue shrimp were another highlight, served with a buttery creole sauce that was so good, we couldn't resist dipping our bread and fries in it. I highly, highly recommend trying this appetizer. For the main course, I opted for the fried chicken sandwich, and I was not disappointed. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, and the sandwich was well-crafted. Another person at our table also chose the fried chicken sandwich, which speaks to its popularity and consistency. The option to have it classic or hot adds a nice touch of customization. We also had a friend who ordered the roasted chicken, and they thoroughly enjoyed it. The dish looked appetizing, and they mentioned that it tasted as good as it looked. Another friend decided to stick with the crabcakes for their entrée, and they were just as pleased with their choice. The crabcakes were consistent in quality and remained a favorite throughout the meal. In conclusion, Public Bistro is a hidden gem in Midtown, offering a delightful dining experience with its bistro ambiance and exceptional food. From the creative cocktails to the mouthwatering appetizers and satisfying main courses, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. The attentive and friendly service adds to the overall positive experience. I would definitely go back to Public Bistro without hesitation. It's a place where you can enjoy delicious food in a cozy setting, and where the staff goes above and beyond to ensure your satisfaction. Whether you're in the mood for classic favorites like the fried chicken sandwich or want to explore their seafood options, this restaurant has something to please every palate.

Came here for a birthday dinner last night. Fantastic food and service. The restaurant was not crazy busy but it was a Monday evening so all good. The ambiance is very sophisticated and classic. Shout out to our waiter Crow. He was a super server!! Very attentive and great with recommendations of all menu items. The parking is slightly limited since the place is in Cooper Young. We did find a spot right in front. This restaurant is in the old location of the now closed Sweet Grass. It was happy hour so we ordered some nice price items. My friend had a Minotaur and I had a glass of wine. Both good and I am not an adult beverage drinker. We ordered the following appetizers: fried chicken sandwich, roasted Brussels sprouts, deviled eggs, and the biscuit plate. We shared everything. I especially like the biscuits with cheesy spread and Brussels sprouts with the yummy sauce. Onto dinner! Yep we wanted to try some entrees so I ordered the mussels in a light tomato sauce with chiorzo. It came with garlicky tasty bread. I really enjoyed that! My friend ordered a pork chop that was seasoned very well and came with a bed of mashed sweet potatoes and green beans on the bottom. Everything was delicious! I had a fantastic time and I am looking forward to returning soon.

Had a nice Valentine's dinner here. Didn't have reservations but they were able to accommodate us. This place is really spacious on the inside with full bar, variety of seating. Service was great. Drinks kind of pricy in small glasses. Overall, good vibes. Deviled eggs were really good

I went to dinner with my colleagues the other night. We ordered the Brussel sprouts and jalapeño dip for starters. I was doing a dry January and didn't get wine or a cocktails but a lot of my team ordered French 75s. They were pleased. I ordered the pork chop. WHOA DELICIOUS and it was huge! The sweet potatoes and veggie bed it was in was perfect. The ambiance is nice. I like the variety of seating and the bar looks trendy. I took one start off because our server seemed totally annoyed with us the entire time.

Great little addition to the Cooper Young area. They really fill a need of slightly upscale place with fresh tasty approachable American food. It is not overly fancy, or does it even try to be. We were really saddened when Sweet Grass decided to leave this spot. It was one of our favorites. I am glad to say we have a more than acceptable replacement with Public Bistro. Our server was great. I don't catch his name but he was a really good and handled our service very well. We never looked for a thing that wasn't already there. He made conversation easily and you could tell that he was a seasoned server and knew all of the ropes. The remodel looks great. Kate did a great job designing the space. It's warm, inviting, and comfortable. My wife loves the white/navy blue wall accents. She wants to do our kitchen the same way. My only complaint was the chair I was in made my ass hurt pretty quickly. Food was really good! Surprisingly good in fact...We've seen this chef before, and I was apprehensive from past experiences with him in the kitchen. It appears he found the salt now and we are good to go! BBQ shrimp was a little "shrimpy", if that's a thing. The sauce was good though, but could use a slight reduction to make it a little thicker. BBQ shrimp sauce should kind of stick on the shrimp and this did not. Nice little kick of Worcestershire sauce at the end. It was good and would order it again. Tomato soup was great. It tasted just like it should and was nice and thick. Sharp acidic taste with a nice back end of creaminess. Well done soup. Mushroom Gnocchi was thoroughly enjoyed by the wifey. She made little food noises and was doing little happy food dances while she ate. I tried it and I will concur! My steak frites was perfect. The steak was presented sliced and dressed beautifully. It was able to be cut with a fork, and melted in my mouth. I was really impressed by how good it was. The fries were not house made, unless I'm horribly mistaken, but did a great job staying crunchy and provided a great texture contrast to the wonderfully tender steak. See you soon PB!! Glad you are here now and we can be friends. '24 - 1/100
